In this segment, Shaila Gottlieb of MontdorInteriors.com discusses how to choose the right colours for your home. Use small samples of paint which can be found at most paint stores, use a colour wheel or wand when deciding on potential paint colours for your home. You can also paint a sample on bristol board before committing to painting the whole room. Use masking or painters tape instead of scotch tape when taping painting samples on your wall as they won’t chip your paint!
The most common mistake is holding the colour chip down instead of up against the wall, the lighting is different and will not be true representation of the actual colour. Colour blocking, which is a popular and stylish choice, is when you paint one wall an accent colour.
Latex paint which is water based and Oil based are the two most common type of paint. Latex is generally better for walls and Oil-based work better for doors and trim. Beautiful home decor is all about balance, harmony and scale!
